Where do I even begin? I'll start off by stating the obvious, Jade and Devon's Wedding was perfection! I mean how could it not when you have the most adorable Bride and Groom, the perfect fall day, and gorgeous venue, but beyond that it was filled with so much emotion and even more love. There were so many moments that stuck out but probably my absolute favourite moment would be at the end of the father daughter dance Jades mom, sister and new hubby Devon got on the dance floor and they all danced together, it really was such a beautiful moment. As many heart felt moments there were, there was equally as many moments that had us all laughing, some of which involving toes, but thats a need to know basis.. haha. Honestly I could probably go on forever, but no one wants to hear me ramble on because I know your really here to gush over this gorgeous Pillar and Post wedding.
Meet Jade & Devon...
How did you two meet? How long have you been together? J-We met in 2014 while working as students for the Niagara Parks Police. We instantly had a connection when we were out on the parkway, exchanging some sarcastic comments that ultimately lead to a never ending conversation. There was an immediate connection for both of us that turned an ordinary introduction into a special memory. Devon was on a bicycle and I obviously thought he looked pretty hot in bike shorts hahaa
D-Jade and I were both working for the Niagara Parks. I was a Bike Unit and she was a newly hired Foot Unit. I saw her from afar and thought she was the most beautiful girl ever and I had to meet her. I rode over to her and introduced myself and slowly rode next to her while she walked. We had an interesting interaction where she advised me that she thought it would be funny if she put a stick in the spokes on my front wheel so I would fall, cut myself and need stitches. She then proceeded to tell me that she was not a Doctor but for me she would try to do the stitches. At that moment I knew I had to get to know this sarcastic and funny girl. I then spent the rest of the summer chasing her around and the rest is history.
We have been together for 5.5 years now. As silly as it sounds, the best years of our lives. We have been through a lot - graduations, new jobs & careers, great losses, travelling the world, buying a house, adopting our pupper (Hudson). We have grown up together through the years and I couldn’t imagine going through these monumental moments with anyone else. We are each other’s partners in everything.
What was your first impression of your partner?
J- I thought he was really hot, he was in his Provincial Offences officer uniform and to this day, I like to see my man in his uniform. He was very calm and collected and immediately understood my sense of humour and played along, which I loved. He was sexy and intriguing and I couldn’t wait to learn more about him, D- She was smart, pretty, great sense of humour and extremely sarcastic.
My partners first kiss made me think….what? J- butterflies and all things good. My last first kiss. D-Damn, I need some more of that
What is your favourite way of spending time together? J- Hanging out at home, making dinner for him. Just relaxing in our comfy clothes with no plans. That’s the best D- Relaxing at home with our dog and watching movies
What was it about your partner that made you believe they were “the one”? J- Devon knew me so well right away. He listened, he has never stopped listening. He cares so deeply for everyone in his life, but especially for me. Since day one, he has put me first and loved every imperfection. He has always made me feel safe and happy. I knew so quickly he was the one. He is my best friend and completes my world in ways I never knew I needed. D- She puts up with me and makes me happy
What do you think is the most important part of the marriage to concentrate on to keep it stable? J- taking time to spend quality one on one time with each other. We plan date nights for each other which are always fun. Last one Devon planned we did dinner an axe throwing, we had a blast. The next one we have panned is a spa day & staying at our favourite hotel in Niagara Falls. We think it’s important to keep the romance alive 😃 D- Communication and honesty
If you could describe significant other in one word what would it be? Why? J- Home. D-Amazing. She is everything I could have ever wished for and more in a wife/life partner
What is your song and why? J- All of you by John Legend is our song. On our first “official” date Devon brought me to his house and played that song on guitar for me. He sang too. It was really cute and he had put so much effort into learning it. He’s a romantic guy. D- All of Me by John Legend because I was a creep and played it on guitar/sang it for her on one of our first few dates
What would be your advice to couples for making a relationship last a lifetime? J- Listen to each other and try to view things from your partner’s perspective. I think that caused a lot of arguments for us until we realized how differently the two of us think and react to situations. We are complete opposites when it comes to our thought processes. If we had to get from point A to point B, we will always choose a different route. It’s realizing that neither of us are wrong, that we are simply different, that has really helped us in our relationship. It’s really opened our eyes and helped us understand each other. I think we truly know & understand each other better than anyone else ever will. D- Never go to bed angry, trust each other and communication is key
